After completing a long series of tests regarding the affects of increased critical rates on the Battle Mage (War Mage) class, I have come to conclude that the majority of area of affect spells are not affected my critical rates.
I also scoped around a series of Dragonica forums to see if anyone else had come around this issue. Now, I have to find an answer from a game moderator or developer regarding why this is the case.
Many speculate that it has to do with the increased accuracy of the spells. They have a much higher accuracy rate than any other skills allow you to hit monsters 10-15 levels above you. However, I do not understand how that would server as a justification for preventing these spells from striking with critical damage.
This is a very confusing issue and may actually be a bug. If the implementation of the damage formulas deliberately left out critical rates for those particular skills, then why was that the case?
Other classes can do well over 3x the amount of damage Battle Mages can with their area of effect spells when critical rates are taken into account. This fact leads to believe that it can't possible be a deliberate restriction to prevent an excessive amount of damage being inflicted on mobs. If that were the case, all other classes would have much more severe restrictions regarding which of their skills could inflict critical damage.
Please, if you do not have a direct link to a game moderator's post or a developer's post, DO NOT REPLY. I have no interest in hearing any speculation regarding this issue. I don't care what you, the player, may think is the logic behind this. I am looking specifically, and only, for a response that can lead me to information provided by the development staff regarding this issue.
Thank you for your time.
